Was bedeutet Virtualisierung von Servern?
Bei der Servervirtualisierung kommt eine Softwareschicht zum Einsatz, um eine oder mehrere virtuelle Maschine(n) aus Basis eines Servers oder einer physischen Infrastruktur zu erstellen. Für die Virtualisierung gibt es zahlreiche Use Cases. Basierend auf einem physischen Server können so viele virtuelle Server wie nötig bereitgestellt werden. Diese teilen sich die Ressourcen des physischen Servers, die über eine Managementsoftware verteilt werden. So wird die Nutzung der Serverressourcen durch Zuweisung je nach Bedarf optimiert, um die Bereitstellung zusätzlicher Server zu vermeiden. Eine Server-Virtualisierungsinfrastruktur kann auch für andere Zwecke genutzt werden, beispielsweise um eine eigene Cloud zu erstellen. Die Verwaltung mit einem Hypervisor verleiht der Infrastruktur Flexibilität: Zusätzliche physische oder virtuelle Ressourcen und Server lassen sich einfach zu Ihrer öffentlichen, hybriden oder privaten Cloud hinzufügen.
