The context
Woodpecker.co is a global provider of a sales and marketing automation platform designed for outbound communication and lead generation. As the company expanded its customer base, it required an infrastructure capable of processing large volumes of real-time data. By leveraging OVHcloud’s European infrastructure, the support of a from a dedicated account manager, access to cloud services and on-demand solutions, and high security standards, Woodpecker.co built a scalable and flexible environment capable of supporting very high workloads and continued global expansion.
The challenge
Woodpecker.co faced a complex challenge: the organisation needed a secure, efficient, and scalable infrastructure capable of supporting lead generation agencies, sales and marketing teams running advanced outbound campaigns, multi-channel communication and behavioural analytics. This required a technical environment able to manage:
- automation of complex processes across thousands of customers generating millions of actions
- processing vast volumes of data (logs, statistics, metrics, shipping events)
- handling hundreds of millions of requests generated by clients using the API and application interface
- managing an infrastructure covering thousands of IP addresses used for advanced rotation and sender reputation management
- maintaining a delivery infrastructure capable of running large-scale email campaigns involving tens of millions of messages.
The scale of these operations required secure infrastructure capable of dynamic scaling, distributed environments, AI integration and full compliance with European data protection standards.
The solution
OVHcloud infrastructure enabled Woodpecker.co to deploy a highly scalable platform supporting outbound and outreach activities for lead generation agencies as well as sales and marketing teams. Initially focused on email communication, the platform now operates in an omnichannel model, allowing automated outreach across additional channels such as social media. The platform operates as a Software-as-a-Service solution, supporting large-scale cold email campaign management while enabling users to purchase domains and email inboxes, build multi-stage outreach sequences and leverage advanced algorithms that monitor sender reputation. These mechanisms help users achieve deliverability rates that exceed typical industry benchmarks.

Initially, the infrastructure was based on a single server. Currently, after years of collaboration between OVHcloud and Woodpecker.co, a distributed set of High Grade dedicated servers runs in multiple datacentres, including:
- dozens of Proxmox virtual machines operating in many OVHcloud datacentres
- database clusters processing terabytes of operational and analytical data
- on-demand Public Cloud environments that automatically scale workloads using OVHcloud APIs
- SMTP infrastructure and IP rotation mechanisms operating on thousands of addresses
- processing of high-volume API traffic, which reaches hundreds of millions of requests each month.
OVHcloud services have also proven very helpful in implementing LLM models based on Public Cloud services, which expand clients' mailing capabilities, including generating personalised content, AI-powered video creation, sender reputation analytics and send-time optimisation. Through collaboration with a dedicated OVHcloud account manager and Professional Services, Woodpecker.co gained not only infrastructure stability but also support in infrastructure planning, service management and cost optimisation.
