8x increase in web interactions in Q1 2024

The context

Founded in Sweden in 2018, Ebbot is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company committed to reshaping the customer service industry. Ebbot’s team of customer service experts help companies enhance their customer relationship models by providing AI-driven conversational experiences that facilitate extensive service operations.

Ebbot offers customer service tools that are interactive, user-friendly, and easy to integrate with existing business systems.  These tools, such as the AI-driven chatbot and live chat, improve collaboration and productivity between the chatbot and the agent. Ebbot took steps to strengthen the link between online service and customer satisfaction by developing its own Large Language Model (LLM), EbbotGPT.

The challenge

Before switching to OVHcloud, Ebbot exclusively relied on a US-based cloud provider. Despite being mostly happy with the service, the SaaS company began to face growing constraints as regards data storage and processing outside the European Union. In July 2020, the Data Protection Commission v. Facebook Ireland case, commonly referred to as Schrems II, resulted in the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) issuing a decision that added more regulations to data protection and processing principles. Ebbot recognised the importance of data security and compliance, and thus made it a priority to store and process all data within the EU.

While the decision to switch to a different cloud provider was primarily led by compliance requirements, finding an infrastructure that could deliver higher performance and speed was also a key factor. In this regard, the challenge morphed into an opportunity to scale. Creating an experience that erases the feeling of waiting in a queue for users, without sacrificing the human touch, also required a highly customisable and easy-to-integrate infrastructure that could handle increased volumes.

The solution

OVHcloud’s wide range of services, and its commitment to ensuring data protection align perfectly with Ebbot’s goal of providing fast and secure customer relationship solutions to businesses across various global markets. Ebbot was looking for powerful, open-source technologies that could deliver security, flexibility, and optimal performance.

The company now leverages a Kubernetes cluster that runs on OVHcloud Public Cloud infrastructure in European datacentres, compliant with EU data protection regulations. The partnership between European companies and OVHcloud reflects their commitment to ensuring data sovereignty and GDPR compliance. Moreover, they can effectively meet industry-specific demands and adapt their services for new clients and markets.

Kubernetes, one of the leading container orchestration tools, automates the deployment, scalability, and resilience of applications. Ebbot’s platform is further strengthened by the integration of PostgreSQL, an open-source relational database engine known for its high extensibility and ability to run AI models.

Ebbot relies on cutting-edge generative AI solutions, like high-performance Graphic Processing Units (GPUs), to continuously improve customer service. Ebbot harnesses the power of NVIDIA Tesla® V100 GPUs and NVIDIA Tensor Core H100 GPUs to help businesses craft immersive conversational experiences. By using virtual computer chips, EbbotGPT can remain company-specific and generate personalised answers, for better engagement and more authentic customer conversations.

The result

The partnership with OVHcloud enabled Ebbot to break down compliance barriers, paving the way for scalability and entry into new markets, particularly the banking, insurance, and public sectors. Ebbot’s decision to join forces with OVHcloud, in order to ensure data sovereignty in Europe, allowed it to expand its customer base to include many who were previously unable to use its platform.

With tailored OVHcloud technical solutions, Ebbot’s platform now has the extensibility and scalability needed to handle the growing amount of data resulting from the migration to datacentres in Europe. OVHcloud Public Cloud’s pricing structure is designed to be accessible and transparent, allowing scaling companies to efficiently control costs. Ebbot is now better equipped to provide instant information access to clients from over 200 businesses worldwide.

“The platform is in high demand, with a twofold increase in interactions during the first quarter of 2024, exceeding the total number of interactions in 2023.”
Mikael Eriksson, CTO of Ebbot
