A Blockchain for Everyone: BSV Association Chooses OVHcloud’s Scalable Cloud Infrastructure for Teranode
OVHcloud & BSVA
1M transactions per second (TPS)
50 Bare Metal Server and 8 Virtual Machines (VMs)
40% reduction in infrastructure costs
The context
BSV Association (BSVA) is a Switzerland based non-profit organisation established to support adoption of BSV blockchain, a scalable, stable and secure public blockchain designed for high-volume data and transaction processing. Teranode is the core node software of the BSV blockchain and a central component of its scaling infrastructure. Built for extreme performance, Teranode can process more than 80 billion transactions within a 24-hour period, supporting sustained throughput of up to 1 million transactions per second.
By enabling unbounded scaling, BSV blockchain allows organisations across multiple industries to integrate blockchain technology into real‑world processes. Typical use cases include micro‑payments, data integrity and audit trails, tokenisation and smart contract-based automation.
The challenge
Required: High‑performance cloud infrastructure with ultra‑fast network throughput for blockchain workloads
Teranode is designed as the scalable node software of BSV blockchain, enabling the network to process high volumes of transactions without performance bottlenecks. Its architecture supports horizontal scaling, allowing capacity to expand as demand increases while maintaining consistent throughput and reliability.
To achieve target performance levels of up to 1 million transactions per second (TPS), Teranode places significant demands on both compute capacity and network throughput. Delivering this level of sustained performance requires infrastructure capable of supporting continuous, high-volume transaction processing across the network.
While BSVA’s previous cloud provider met the necessary technical requirements, the associated costs made operating Teranode at scale prohibitively expensive for smaller development teams and early‑stage businesses. To fulfil its mission of making BSV blockchain accessible to a broader ecosystem of developers and organisations, the Association required a cloud provider that could deliver enterprise grade performance at a predictable and sustainable cost.
The solution
Delivered: High‑performance cloud infrastructure, cost‑efficient services, and flexible scalability
After evaluating multiple options, BSVA selected OVHcloud to meet Teranode’s demanding technical and cost requirements. OVHcloud’s combination of powerful bare‑metal servers, high‑throughput networking, and transparent, competitively priced offerings provided a compelling solution.
Critical Teranode services run on OVHcloud Scale servers, powered by the latest Intel® Xeon® processors, with clock speeds up to 3.8 GHz to handle compute-intensive blockchain workloads. Storage and memory were configured to ensure consistent performance under sustained transaction volumes.
Network throughput was increased to the required level using OVHcloud’s 25 Gbps and 50 Gbps connections, while a private vRack network enables secure, low latency communication between core services and isolates sensitive traffic from the public internet.
A unified infrastructure model ensures developers experience consistent deployment conditions regardless of location and OVHcloud’s global data centre footprint supports geographical expansion. Teranode currently operates from an OVHcloud datacentre in Germany, with plans to extend coverage across additional regions in European and Asia.
“What stands out about OVHcloud is its open attitude towards new technologies such as blockchain networks. From a product perspective, the excellent availability of top‑tier hardware across multiple regions also convinced us.”
Siggi Oskarsson, CTO of the BSV Association
The result
By migrating Teranode to OVHcloud, BSV Association reduced infrastructure costs by more than 40% compared with its previous provider, while maintaining consistently high performance and availability.
The new infrastructure enables small teams and independent developers to deploy Teranode on dedicated bare metal servers and still achieve the 1 million TPS benchmark. This significantly lowers the barrier to participation in the BSV ecosystem and supports broader adoption of blockchain technology.
With 1 million TPS now demonstrated on production‑grade OVHcloud infrastructure, the industry question has shifted. It is no longer whether blockchain can scale, but what can be built now that it does. Teranode’s microservices‑based architecture, running on cost‑efficient OVHcloud Bare Metal servers, means that use cases previously dismissed as impractical — from real‑time global payment rails and IoT coordination across billions of devices, to healthcare data management, carbon‑efficient supply chain tracking, and high‑frequency microtransactions — are now within reach for organisations of any size.
“OVHcloud delivered not only the hardware diversity and network performance we required, but also the flexibility needed to make the BSV blockchain accessible to organisations of any size. With this infrastructure in place, we are inviting developers and businesses to build on Teranode — the scalability bottleneck that held blockchain back for years has been removed, and the cost of participation is now sustainable for teams at every stage.”
Siggi Oskarsson, CTO, BSV Association
By combining cost efficient bare metal compute with secure, high‑speed global networking, BSV blockchain is now positioned to support a wide range of real‑world applications, including tokenisation, micro‑payments and smart contracts at internet scale.
