Executive summary
To support the digitalisation of its e-learning solutions, the German Federal Police uses the Visavid video conferencing system from Auctores GmbH, hosted on the highly secure cloud infrastructure provided by OVHcloud. Auctores specialises in digital communication solutions for public authorities, educational institutions, and businesses. With Visavid, the company operates one of the few fully GDPR-compliant video conferencing systems developed in Germany.
OVHcloud and the two partners have joined forces to deliver a powerful and future-proof solution that is compliant with the GDPR, and tailored to meet the specific requirements of federal authorities. The hosting contract was awarded in May 2025 by the Procurement Office of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, with a term of five years.
The challenge
To implement a “virtual classroom”, the German Federal Police was looking for a video conferencing solution that meets the highest standards in terms of data protection, security, and digital sovereignty. A key requirement: hosting had to take place exclusively in Germany, with no reliance on non-European providers—a condition that many common providers were unable to meet.
The solution
Auctores, through Visavid, offers a video conferencing solution specifically designed for use in government and educational settings. The solution is fully GDPR-compliant and has been operated exclusively within the European Economic Area from day one. For the Federal Police project, Visavid utilises OVHcloud’s powerful, certified cloud infrastructure:
- Hosting exclusively in C5-certified datacentres located in Germany, compliant with BSI standards
- Highly available infrastructure supporting up to 1,250 concurrent users
- Secure storage and recording of sessions in line with data protection requirements
- Seamless integration with the Ilias learning platform, fully tailored to the Federal Police’s visual identity

Looking ahead
For Auctores, the contract awarded by the Federal Police represents both a milestone and a push to keep innovating. Development of the Visavid platform is already progressing at full speed:
- End-to-end encryption by the end of 2025
- Multi-factor authentication for enhanced security
- Legally valid voting directly within the platform
- Hosting of highly sensitive conference content on fully protected servers
These enhancements mean the system is now ready for use in more high-security settings, such as intelligence services, the military, judiciary, journalism, and telemedicine.
