The background

Woodpecker.co, a global provider of sales and marketing automation platforms, needed a highly scalable, flexible, and secure infrastructure to support a growing number of clients and process high volumes of data in real-time. Thanks to OVHcloud's European infrastructure, the support of a dedicated business advisor, access to cloud services and on-demand solutions, and high security standards, Woodpecker.co gained a flexible and efficient infrastructure capable of stable operation under very high loads and further global expansion.

The challenge

Woodpecker.co faced a complex challenge: the organisation needed a secure, efficient, and scalable infrastructure enabling lead gen agencies, sales teams, and marketing to conduct advanced outbound activities, multichannel communication, and audience behaviour analytics. It was therefore essential to build the appropriate technical background capable of managing:

  • the automation of complex processes at a large scale of several thousand clients undertaking millions of actions
  • processing vast volumes of data (logs, statistics, metrics, shipping events)
  • handling hundreds of millions of requests generated by clients using the API and application interface
  • managing an environment comprising thousands of IP addresses used for advanced rotation and reputation maintenance
  • maintaining the shipping infrastructure executing mass email campaigns, counted in tens of millions of messages.

The scale of these processes required infrastructure ensuring security, dynamic scaling, support for distributed environments, integration with artificial intelligence (AI) models, and full compliance with European data protection standards.

The solution

The OVHcloud infrastructure has enabled the deployment of an extensive platform: Woodpecker.co. It supports lead generation agencies and sales and marketing teams in outbound and outreach activities, initially in the email channel, and now also in an omnichannel model, with the ability to automate activities on social media. The service operates in a SaaS model and supports the management of complex infrastructure for sending cold email campaigns on a large scale. It enables the purchase of domains and email boxes, the creation of multi-level omnichannel campaigns, and the use of advanced algorithms to control sender reputation. As a result, users achieve deliverability rates that exceed the market standard.

Initially, the infrastructure was based on a single server. Currently, after years of collaboration between OVHcloud and Woodpecker.co, a distributed set of High Grade dedicated servers operates in multiple datacentres, including:

  • dozens of Proxmox virtual machines operating in many OVHcloud datacentres
  • database clusters processing terabytes of operational and analytical data
  • flexible Public Cloud environments that are on-demand, automatically scaling load and launched according to demand thanks to OVHcloud APIs
  • SMTP infrastructure and IP rotation mechanisms operating on thousands of addresses
  • processing massive API traffic, which reaches hundreds of millions of requests each month.

OVHcloud services have also proven very helpful in implementing LLM models based on Public Cloud services, which expand clients' mailing capabilities, including generating personalised content, AI-generated video, reputation analytics, and optimising dispatch. Thanks to a dedicated OVHcloud business manager and Professional Services, the client gained not only infrastructure stability but also support in managing services, infrastructure expansion plans, and cost optimisation.
