The background

Share.P is an innovative plug-and-play parking system that digitises existing parking infrastructure and resolves EV parking and charging problems. By optimising spaces, securing and automating the sharing and renting of EV charging points, the Share.P mobile app directly addresses current problems—the lack of convenient card payment options and EV charging infrastructure. It also spurs innovation by improving quality of use and ensuring easy access to low-cost parking spaces for everyone. The company believes that embracing technological innovation is key to making mobility more sustainable, which is why it focuses its efforts on reducing traffic congestion and air pollution.

The platform was initially designed to let people rent parking spaces hourly, by the weekend, or weekly, just like flat rental platforms. With the app, users can conveniently rent out their available parking spots. Drivers can select, pay for, and unlock their parking space (spaces behind a barrier or gate) in advance using their phone. This app increases the availability of parking spots in cities with limited parking, while allowing owners to partially recoup the cost of unused spaces.

Over the past two years, Share.P has undergone a transformation that has brought changes to its offers; the company has moved beyond shared parking spaces to focus on managing entire car parks in housing estates, office buildings, hotels, and shopping or convention centres. It now also offers tailored solutions to address the specific needs of customers arising from their work structures. Since large venues usually have fast charging stations, the company has created a solution that benefits both EV owners and venue owners. The Share.P app allows private individuals who are not equipped with fast charging stations to charge their cars, while providing venue owners with an additional revenue stream, e.g. empty office car parks at night in the evening and after work hours.

The challenge

Share.P, having received a cloud service grant, needed a new provider that could meet certain infrastructure needs. The company wanted a stable system that would ensure smooth operations and minimum maintenance.

The solution

The infrastructure offered by OVHcloud allowed the company to host the systems needed to work on the service. Share.P first migrated its development environment, then its production environment. Currently, OVHcloud hosts three of the company’s core business components: the mobile app’s backend, a charger management service, and a service (under development) for managing remote access devices (like barrier openers) integrated with the app. The company currently stores its data on servers located in Warsaw. In the future, as it expands to Western European markets, the company plans to locate data on OVHcloud servers in Germany or the UK.

“Our current system is powered almost entirely by OVHcloud’s technology. This includes the database, service cluster, full development and production systems (across two environments), and the management interface. Consolidating functions within a single provider significantly improves system performance.” Paweł Gorzelewski, Co-founder & CTO, Share.P.

The result

A major advantage of Share.P’s partnership with OVHcloud is the excellent quality of services and technical support offered at attractive rates. This is mainly due to a partnership built on mutual understanding of all business stages. Share.P benefits from comprehensive support provided by experts across various areas of collaboration, which sets OVHcloud’s service apart.

“During our migration, we didn’t quite know how to approach the issue of data transfer, but a call to OVHcloud support connected us with an expert DevOps who quickly answered all our questions. Also, while demoing our system at an industry event, we ran into a problem with the infrastructure, we were able to get help quickly and avert a potential crisis situation.” Marek Wojdyło, Co-founder, CDO
