Registering a domain name for multiple years

Secure your image with multi-year registration

By registering your domain names for several years at a time, you can protect your brand image against malicious practices.

The validity period for a trademark in Europe is generally 10 years: this is the case for the INPI in France, the EUIPO in Europe or the WIPO internationally. After 10 years, you have to renew your trademark. Some domain extensions can also be registered for 10 years, allowing you to align your trademark applications with your domain name strategy.

Long-term
savings

By investing in a domain name for several years at a time, you can benefit from our current prices. This means that you can avoid future price increases, including increases from registries who maintain the extensions (such as .fr or .com), or fluctuations in exchange rates that may affect the renewal prices.

Stronger security,
more peace of mind

With multi-year registration, you get additional protection so that you don't lose your domain names if you forget to renew or if you run into any potential payment issues. Protect your brand by investing for several years, and keep your address for the entire duration.

A domain name is an important part of a company’s identity. It allows you to communicate by email in a professional way and presents your brand by redirecting your customers and prospects to your website, platform or online document.

Protecting your domain names will help you avoid the following risks:

  • Your website becoming unavailable to your customers or audience
  • Your email inbox becoming inaccessible
  • Potential cybersquatting: after a certain period of time without any action from the owner, the domain name eventually expires, then is deleted. It then becomes available for sale again, meaning that anyone can buy it. A malicious person could buy it, then either sell it back to you for more, trick your visitors into pretending to be your company, or use it to damage your reputation.

With a long-term vision, registering your domain name over several years will secure your renewals.
It’s worth noting that whether you choose manual renewal or automatic renewal, the payment might still fail to go through.

  • If you renew manually: some domain names may not get renewed in time. This can happen, for example, if you forget to renew, or if the person responsible for managing it leaves your company.
  • For automatic renewal: Opting for automatic renewal secures your domain name. However, you will need to take manual action if the payment method you have entered expires or is blocked. You will be notified if you need to update it, but if the person in charge of managing the domain is unavailable, the domain name may be suspended (in accordance with ICANN regulations, the body in charge of assigning domain names internationally).

With multi-year registration, no one can steal your domain name and you can focus on your business.
