Your questions answered
What is managed File Storage for Public Cloud?
File Storage is a fully managed file storage solution in the form of shared NFS volumes. The available capacity ranges from 150 GB to 10 TB, offering up to 16,000 IOPS and 128 MB/s.
It is compatible with Managed Kubernetes Service (Read/Write Many Persistent Volume Claims or RWX PVC) and Public Cloud instances (NFS mounts).
What are the main use cases for this solution?
Horizontal load distribution: distribute your workloads across instances or containers
Dynamic resizing: adjust the number of pods or nodes in your Kubernetes cluster(s)
Shared asset catalogue: centralise resources (images, videos) for your websites
Personal directories: shared directories for multiple users
Is File Storage compatible with Kubernetes and PVCs?
Yes, the solution is fully compatible with Managed Kubernetes Service via Manila CSI. It supports Persistent Volume Claims (PVC) in Read/Write Many (RWX) to mount shared volumes directly in your pods.
Which version of the NFS protocol is supported?
The standard version, NFS v3, for containerised environments and cloud instances.
What are the performance metrics (IOPS and throughput) available?
Standard Class:
IOPS: up to 16,000 IOPS (baseline of 24 IOPS/GB + additional 24 IOPS per GB)
Throughput: up to 128 MB/s (baseline of 25 MB/s + 0.25 MB/s per GB beyond 100 GB)
Performance increases linearly with the size of the shared volume.
What are the minimum and maximum capacities?
Available capacities from 150 GB to 10 TB per shared volume. Instant adjustment at the GB level via the OVHcloud API, OpenStack API, or Manila CSI (other consumption modes coming at GA).
Is stored data secure?
Yes – thanks to encryption with OVHcloud Managed Keys (OMK, accessible at GA), regular automatic backup to remote storage (coming soon), and vRack compatibility for an isolated private network across multiple datacentres.
In which regions is the service available?
Currently in GRA/DE1 and SBG5. With general availability (GA) expected around mid-March 2026, the service will be deployed in all Public Cloud regions (1-AZ, 3-AZ, and Local Zones).
