Your questions answered
Who is affected by this change?
All customers with one or more domain names and web hosting plans who have placed their order on the following OVHcloud websites: ovhcloud.com/de, ovhcloud.com/en-ie, ovhcloud.com/it, ovhcloud.com/nl, ovhcloud.com/pl, ovhcloud.com/pt, ovhcloud.com/en-gb, ovhcloud.com/es, ovhcloud.com/fr-ma, ovhcloud.com/fr-sn, ovhcloud.com/fr-tn, ovhcloud.com/en-au, ovhcloud.com/en.
What will happen to my domain names and web hosting plans that need to be renewed manually?
From 8 January 2025, any domain names and web hosting plans that were manually renewed will switch to auto-renewal, i.e., if you have a valid payment method linked to your account.
The benefits of switching to auto-renewal include:
• simplicity: no need to worry about renewal dates, it’s all automated;
• service continuity: your service remains active without interruptions;
• timesaving: you avoid any manual steps and the risk of forgetting.
However, you can always switch back to manual renewal if it is more suited to your needs.
I don’t want to keep the auto-renewal option, what should I do?
If you prefer not to auto-renew your domain names and web hosting plans, you can change the renewal method up to 31 days before the renewal date.
To do this, go to the OVHcloud Control Panel, then to “Products and Services” in the shortcuts (on the right side of your screen). Filter services and enable renewal by clicking the “...” button in the “Actions” column. Please refer to this guide for the full tutorial.
Which products are affected by the update of the standing order option?
This change will apply to domain names and web hosting plans.
What if my payment method is not valid?
If your payment method is not valid, your domain name will not be renewed or charged, even if you opt for auto-renewal.
Your payment method needs to be valid in order to properly renew your domain name. To ensure your credit card is usable, check that it’s not expired or blocked.
