AnyDesk is one of the world's leading providers of remote desktop software. The company, based in Germany but operating worldwide, enables users to quickly access all of their devices at any time and from any location. At the heart of the product lies the DeskRT video codec developed by AnyDesk, which allows collaboration with almost no latency – even in regions with low bandwidths of 100 kB/s.

Excellent remote work, remote support and remote access from anywhere is the approach that AnyDesk offers their clients on a day-to-day basis. The companies’ innovative applications have already been downloaded over 1 billiion times globally. This makes AnyDesk one of the 50 fastest-growing companies in Europe. More than 200,000 customers in 190 countries trust AnyDesk, including internationally renowned companies such as Google, McDonald's and Bosch.

AnyDesk had a strong growth in recent years, driving their international expansion and doubling the numbers of clients from 120,000 to 220,000 since 2020. They were looking for a reliable cloud provider to support their growth, offering cloud services with low latency and points of presence around the world.

The challenge

The landscape of IT support is increasingly shifting toward remote solutions. For instance, when a company implements new software, technical support specialists often assist in the installation process remotely. IT support and remote access support users if error messages or problems arise, until the application is functioning smoothly and without errors. This process requires a stable, uninterrupted connection to ensure seamless support.

As AnyDesk expanded its operations, the company required more powerful dedicated servers to support its growing user base. Additionally, the cloud provider needed to have a global network and multiple points of presence worldwide to align with AnyDesk's worldwide growth strategy and business model. Furthermore, AnyDesk prioritized selecting a European cloud provider to host screen-sharing data in a manner compliant with GDPR regulations.

The solution

High performance servers support low latencies

AnyDesk has discovered cloud solutions with a very high performance and is hosting their cloud infrastructure at OVHcloud for a couple of years now. The company uses OVHcloud’s Highgrade server with 1,5 TB RAM as the most performant server. But they rely on Scale Server, Advance Server and Rise Server depending on the use case of remote work, remote support and remote access.

AnyDesk is also using OVHclouds’ Public Cloud services for software development and other parts of their business in various public cloud projects with instances and databases. For example with the Logs Data Platform, they monitor logs closely to keep their infrastructure and applications up and running.

AnyDesk has found a solid cloud provider with OVHcloud which guarantees flexibility and scalability and supports the clients to expand their business. Especially the different high-performance servers offer the computing power to facilitate screen-sharing around the world. Key aspects for the success of AnyDesk’s business are a cloud provider with a global presence, a global network with Points-of-Presence across the globe and at the same time services with a low latency to offer fast and smooth screen-sharing with high frame rates of 60fps.

AnyDesk is following a strategy of global expansion and shares this vision with OVHcloud. With a growing number of new points of presents, OVHcloud opened new Local Zones in different regions.
