Cada una de ellas posee su propia plataforma OpenStack que proporciona los recursos de cálculo, almacenamiento, red, etc. Una zona geográfica puede, por tanto, incluir varias regiones OpenStack y desplegarse en una zona de disponibilidad (Availability Zone o AZ) o una Local Zone (LZ). Por ejemplo, la zona de Gravelines incluye varias regiones OpenStack: GRA1, GRA3, GRA5, GRA7, GRA9 y GRA11.
