A 3-AZ (multi-Availability Zone) region consists of three physically separate Availability Zones (AZs) within a single legal and network region. Each AZ is isolated to prevent single points of failure, enabling high availability and business continuity.

What happens if one Availability Zone fails?

In a 3-AZ deployment, workloads designed for resilience will continue to operate normally. Regional services like Load Balancer, Object Storage, Managed Kubernetes Service Standard, and Managed Databases automatically route around the failure.
