OVHcloud white paper on responsible, sustainable digital ecosystems

OVHcloud Datacenters and Cloud White Paper: What strategies should be adopted for a responsible and sustainable digital ecosystem?

GreenIT

The IPCC has once again sounded the alarm about global warming, and as a consequence, most organisations have realised the value of adapting their strategies to achieve greater sobriety in the digital arena. Global regulators strongly recommend for companies to reduce their environmental footprint, and it is an increasingly important part of many service providers’ sustainability strategies.

OVHcloud is implementing short, medium and long-term strategies to commit to a NetZero 2030 strategy, including improvements in resource usage, renewable energy, customer accountability, the circular economy and sustainable supply, as well as carbon capture strategies.

This white paper focuses on strategies to reduce the environmental footprint of IT services, drawing from OVHcloud’s actions in its own datacentres and in the general digital ecosystem.

White Paper Overview

Since 2018, the international scientific community has been issuing warnings about the impacts of global warming — with temperatures of 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, and the potential greenhouse-gas emissions trajectories that could result from it. To reduce the effects of global warming, climate experts called for an aim to reach carbon neutrality targets by 2030, and zero-carbon by 2050. These ambitious climate targets require significant investment in sustainability strategies by governments and business leaders in all sectors.
