Our dedicated server ranges

What sets OVHcloud dedicated servers apart?

Maximum performance

Your resources are fully dedicated bare metal servers built with next-gen components. We design, build and manage 400k physical servers worldwide to offer you optimised configurations for your specific projects.

Availability

Deploy your servers in less than 120 seconds, in our 30 datacentres around the world. You benefit from a secure, high-resilience network, to ensure continuity of service for your customers.

Scalability

By creating an infrastructure with OVHcloud dedicated servers, you build a reliable technical platform for your business applications. The scalability of your infrastructure is further enhanced by the ability to interconnect your servers with other OVHcloud solutions, such as Hosted Private Cloud and Public Cloud.

Durability

By hosting your servers with OVH, you benefit from innovative and unique solutions across our entire infrastructure, such as watercooling for energy efficiency, and the anti-DDoS solution developed by our experts. We constantly anticipate your future needs.

Transparency

We provide clear information on pricing, services and options. All of our solutions come with features included by default at no extra cost — such as unlimited ingress and egress traffic (1), anti-DDoS protection, and even 500GB of external storage space.

Compliance

Our Bare Metal servers are ISO/IEC 27001, 27017, 27018, 27701, CSA Star, SOC I-II type 2 and HDS certified in all of our datacentres worldwide. By choosing a location for storing and processing data, you are guaranteed compliance with local legislations.

Included with your dedicated server

Bandwidth and unlimited traffic

Each OVH dedicated server has a minimum public bandwidth of 500 Mbit/s, with a burst available to absorb occasional peak traffic. Incoming and outgoing traffic is unlimited and free (with the exception of our datacentres located in Asia Pacific). You also have the option of increasing your bandwidth capacity, if necessary.

vRack physical private network

Create a dedicated server cluster or hybrid infrastructure, via a high-bandwidth private network across multiple datacentres. The vRack private network is included with all of our dedicated servers, except for those from the Rise and Game ranges.

Service level agreement

All of our servers benefit from a service level agreement (SLA), which ranges from 99.90% to 99.99% depending on the range. This guarantees optimal availability for your services.

Anti-DDoS protection

To guarantee maximum security for your infrastructures, an anti-DDoS system is included with all OVHcloud dedicated servers. It ensures service continuity for your applications, in the event of an attack.

500GB of backup storage space

Each dedicated server comes with a 500GB storage space, dedicated to backups. This space is completely separate from the server, and is designed for you to store your data and configuration files. The storage capacity can be increased, if needed.

IPv4 and IPv6 addresses

Each server has a public IPv4 address and an IPv6 address range.

IPMI and KVM on IP

The IPMI console can be accessed via the OVHcloud Control Panel or API, and provides you with a direct connection to your dedicated server.

A wide range of operating systems and distributions

A number of operating systems and distributions are available to install automatically via the OVHcloud Control Panel.

Support

When you opt for OVHcloud dedicated servers, you get technical support by phone and email.

OVHcloud Control Panel and API

You can manage all of your services via the OVHcloud Control Panel or l’OVHcloud API.

FAQ

🚚 What does the delivery time refer to?

The delivery time is the time it takes for your server to be provided to you. This time period starts once you have paid for your order. It is given as an estimate, and is not a contractual guarantee.

Please note that we work hard to deliver products as quickly as possible.

♾ Is bandwidth usage unlimited?

With OVHcloud, you get unlimited, non-metered traffic included as a standard (excludes datacentres located in the Asia-Pacific region).

However, the network resources are shared between customers. Bandwidth has a fair usage rule (apart from users who have signed up to the guaranteed bandwidth option).

To ensure optimal performance for all of our customers, OVHcloud reserves the right to limit a service’s outgoing public bandwidth throughput by up to 50%, if it has a detrimental effect on network quality for other users.

🤖 Why is the anti-DDoS protection included as standard?

At OVHcloud, anti-DDoS protection is a mandatory feature with all our solutions. It guarantees optimal security for your servers and infrastructures. It is vital, because:

  • an attack on your server will affect your business, which can result in reduced earnings, or an interruption in income
  • if access to your website is saturated, it could flood the common networks and affect other customers

Which operating systems and distributions are compatible with Bare Metal servers?

Our dedicated servers are compatible with a wide range of distributions, operating systems, database management software and hypervisors. Find out more

Optimised versions of these distributions and operating systems have been specifically created to get the very most out of your server and the OVHcloud infrastructure. You can pre-install them via the OVHcloud Control Panel.

What is the difference between the physical vRack private network and a virtual private network?

OVHcloud dedicated servers come with two physical network cards*. One is dedicated to the public network (internet). The other is reserved for the private network. The private network enables your different services to communicate with one another via a dedicated channel, regardless of their location. You get increased flexibility in managing your network, without compromising the availability of your services.

Unlike a physical private network, a virtual private network is a sub-division of the public bandwidth allocated to your server.

*Scale and High Grade servers have four network cards.

🏭 How do I choose my datacentre?

With OVHcloud, you select your datacentre. We advise choosing a datacentre that is as close as possible geographically to your main customer and user base.

Find out more about OVHcloud dedicated servers

What is a dedicated server?

A dedicated server, or computing server, is a machine that allocates all of its hardware resources to the user. Unlike a virtual server, which allocates a portion of the resources to virtualisation technology, a dedicated server offers you all of its RAM, storage, and computing power. This technology can be applied to cloud computing, while dedicated servers are referred to as ‘bare-metal’. This type of solution emphasises the physical availability of the server’s hardware resources, in contrast to services based on virtual instances.

Which dedicated server should I choose?

Our dedicated server configurations are specially adapted to suit a wide range of professional uses. Depending on your needs, you can opt for more RAM, more storage space, or a faster processor.

OVHcloud dedicated servers also stand out because of their bandwidth capacity and associated services. You can also use our anti-DDoS solution that is adapted for gaming — and our private network (vRack) can be used to connect your dedicated server to your infrastructure, or even hardware RAID. Choose a configuration that best suits your needs.

Cloud solutions, shared hosting or a dedicated server?

There are two main factors that make a dedicated server different from a cloud instance. Firstly, the machine's raw performance is different: there is no virtualisation layer consuming resources on a dedicated server, so you are guaranteed full use of the physical resources. The second difference concerns the level of server administration. With a dedicated server, you manage everything from its configuration to the data hosted on it, and you are also responsible for ensuring that it is secure. This means you can opt for a more advanced installation, which is essential for the use of certain business applications (for example). The main benefit of a dedicated solution is the total freedom you get as an administrator. However, if you would like to avoid technical management and concentrate solely on your web project, then OVHcloud Public Cloud instances are the best solution for you. Just need to build a simple website? Take a look at our shared hosting solutions, which offer you a hosting platform at an unbeatable cost, with the configuration fully managed by OVHcloud.

What can a dedicated server be used for?

There are many uses for a dedicated server: big data, machine learning, website and web application hosting, storage and backup, infrastructure virtualisation, server clusters, business applications (CRM, ERP), and online game hosting. This is why we offer several different dedicated server ranges, each of which are designed for a specific set of needs. Our sales and support teams will help you with your project, and can offer expert advice on which server to choose.
