The 3-AZ Region comprises three availability zones (AZs), is completely independent, and offers very high resilience and ultra low latency between AZs.

Description
The 1-AZ Region comprises only one availability zone. It has a fully redundant power supply and network. The storage space within this region is divided between several datacentres. OVHcloud operates several 1-AZ Regions globally (Roubaix, Gravelines, Frankfurt, Beauharnois, etc.). These regions could transition from 1-AZ to 3-AZ over time.

What is the difference between a Region and an AZ?
A region refers to a physical location in which one or more availability zones are located.
An availability zone (AZ) is made up of one or more physically separate datacentres within the same region. This is aimed at ensuring higher availability and fault tolerance for cloud services and applications. Each AZ has its own independent and redundant power, cooling and network infrastructure. As a result, there is no risk of the entire region becoming unavailable if an infrastructure failure (electrical, network, etc.) occurs. While they offer higher availability, AZs are also specifically designed to maintain high-performance connectivity (i.e., the optimal latency) between AZs within the same region.
