Your questions answered

What is the difference between the Managed Rancher Service and the Managed Kubernetes Service?

The Managed Rancher Service makes it easy to manage multiple Kubernetes clusters, including those created with the Managed Kubernetes Service.

The Managed Kubernetes Service is a managed service for managing your containerised applications within the same Kubernetes cluster.

The two services are complementary, but one does not necessarily require the use of the other.

You can manually manage your Kubernetes clusters created with Managed Kubernetes without using Managed Rancher.

Alternatively, you can use the Managed Rancher Service to manage Kubernetes clusters other than those created with the Managed Kubernetes Service, such as Kubernetes clusters on OVHcloud Bare Metal servers, or with other cloud providers (on-premises or otherwise).

What is the difference between the Managed Rancher Service and the Rancher solution offered by SUSE?

The Managed Rancher Service includes all the features available in SUSE Rancher. You focus on your downstream clusters (clusters that host your business applications), while Rancher’s deployment, operational maintenance and security updates are taken care of by OVHcloud.

We have signed a support contract with SUSE, making us your single point of contact for support on the Rancher platform.

What is the guaranteed SLA for Managed Rancher Service?

Our SLA guarantees 99.9% availability.

How much do I need to pay for Managed Rancher Service?

Managed Rancher Service comes in two plans: ‘OVHcloud Edition’ and ‘Standard’, available on a pay-as-you-go basis. You are billed based on the total number of vCPUs used in your downstream clusters.

  • OVHCloud Edition plan: ₹0.63 ex. GST/vCPU/hour
  • Standard plan: ₹1.57 ex. GST/vCPU/hour

Keep in mind, a minimum of 20 vCPUs are billed, even if you don’t end up using that many in your clusters.

Can I use the Managed Rancher Service to manage machines and/or clusters outside OVHcloud?

Yes, you can manage any Kubernetes cluster (from OVHcloud, other cloud providers, or on-premises) via the Managed Rancher Service.

* What are the terms of use for the free credit?

A free voucher (hereinafter referred to as the “Voucher”) applies to any first order of a Managed Rancher service (hereinafter referred to as “MR Service”), valid for both new and existing professional customers. For the order to be eligible, it must be placed between 20 February 2026, 23:00 BST and 19 August 2026, 23:00 BST for a Standard or Edition package. As an exception, customers who have ordered an MR Service in the past, but have not had an active one for at least 6 months, can receive a free voucher as if it were a first-time order, under the same terms.

Customers who have already received a voucher or a special offer on a different Public Cloud service are also eligible.

The Voucher automatically applies to eligible orders, which will appear in your Customer Account and on your bill. The Voucher is valid for one (1) month. The Voucher amount is €250 for the Standard package and €100 for the Edition package. For your information, this amount is enough to cover the management of approximately 20 vCPUs across clusters linked to the MR Service. The Voucher is only valid for orders placed for the associated MR Service. The Voucher amount corresponds to the package chosen. If the Customer upgrades to a higher package while the Voucher is still valid, the Voucher amount will remain unchanged.

It must be assigned to a natural or legal person holding a Customer Account and linked to a Customer ID (NIC handle). To use this Voucher, the holder must have a valid payment method saved in their OVHcloud Customer Account. This payment method will be used to settle service fees once the Voucher is fully used or if the Customer does not cancel the MR Service after the voucher expires.

It cannot be given away, sold, or transferred in any capacity whatsoever to a third party, including between separate legal entities of the same corporate group. The voucher is not replaceable in the event of loss, theft, destruction, end of validity or fraudulent use. Service credits owed, as set out in the SLAs, are calculated based on the service fees paid by the the customer, with the voucher amount deducted.

The use of the Voucher is subject to the full acceptance and compliance with (a) the terms of the Voucher and (b) the General Terms of Service (the “GTS’) and the Special Terms of Public Cloud Services. These can be viewed here: https://www.ovhcloud.com/en/terms-and-conditions/contracts/ ++ (hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Applicable Terms”).

OVHcloud’s liability within the meaning of the GTS as well as those applicable to this offer is limited to the voucher amount, pursuant to Article 10.3 - “Limitations of liability” of the GTS. The GTS sets out the applicable law for the voucher and the jurisdiction to which it is subject. In the event of non-compliance with these Applicable Terms or of fraudulent use, in addition to the remedies provided in the GTS, OVHcloud reserves the right to cancel the Voucher and/or terminate the associated MR Service. In all cases, the Customer will be liable to pay the full amounts to OVHcloud for the MR Service used, without prejudice to any compensation that OVHcloud may claim.
