Linux/Unix - Images
Managed VMware vSphere provides a wide selection of Linux images, including popular distributions like Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian and Fedora. You can find these images in the content library, designed to work perfectly with VMware virtualised environments for better performance and stability. Also, we keep the images up to date with the latest security and features to ensure maximum reliability.

Microsoft - Windows Server images and licences
The Managed VMware vSphere plan includes Standard and Datacenter versions of Windows Server licences. The Standard licence is ideal for small-scale virtualisation on a Windows VM, while the Datacenter licence is best for unlimited virtualisation to meet larger requirements. OVHcloud makes adding licences to VMware solutions effortless, which translates to easier licence management and guaranteed compliance. Customers can also access technical support, along with regular updates, to keep their servers secure and running smoothly.
Take your pick from available templates to launch your virtual machine with Windows images. Keep in mind, billing is based on the number of processor cores on each host.

Properly register your virtual machines to comply with Microsoft server licence rules. This can be done automatically if you deploy your virtual machines from available Microsoft images.
Moreover, this step is a must to comply with licence rules and ensure the legal use of Microsoft software. Carefully follow the registration steps provided by OVHcloud to avoid compliance issues or service interruptions.

How do I install a VM with OVHcloud images and/or licences?
To do this, simply go to the content library and deploy a virtual machine with the desired image. For more specific information, please refer to this documentation.
Can I use an OVHcloud Microsoft licence on a VM?
Yes, our licences can be used for a new virtual machine or a machine you’ve migrated. To stay compliant, please follow the steps provided on this page.
Can I transfer my Microsoft on-prem licences to OVHcloud?
Yes, you can use your SPLA licences (Standard or Datacenter) on OVHcloud machines. There might however be certain conditions for using Microsoft licences in our environments.

Can I buy Microsoft licences from OVHcloud?
No, OVHcloud does not resell Microsoft licences. We can only offer cloud services (dedicated servers, VPS, instances or VMware solutions) that include optional Microsoft licences: Windows Server or SQL Server.
