IT management

The background

Villeroy & Boch is a family business founded in 1748. Based in Mettlach, Germany (Saarland), it is a retail brand of porcelain and ceramic products for kitchens, bathrooms, and both indoor and outdoor home decor. Over the course of its history, the company has continuously evolved to remain at the forefront of technological advances, and respond to changing demands in its sector. To adapt to the digital market, Villeroy & Boch worked with OVHcloud to create an infrastructure that could quickly and securely respond to in-store and online sales transformation.

The challenge

To adapt to current customer behaviour and the growing popularity of online sales, Villeroy & Boch needed new server and network environments. They needed to be able to support their business growth, while still offering a perfect customer experience with the highest level of security. Due to the size of the company and the geographical scope it covers, the number of internal stakeholders is high. In the past, this had often made it difficult to update the IT infrastructure. As a result, the company required a single point of contact to provide and manage end-to-end systems.

“Digitisation and internationalisation are the main trends that Villeroy & Boch must follow. More and more people are making purchases online, and using their smartphones to look for shops nearby.”

Pascal Rheinert, Head of IT, Internet and E-Commerce, Villeroy & Boch

The solution

OVHcloud helped Villeroy & Boch migrate their entire server fleet to a private cloud, so that they could offer quicker response times and greater agility. They could also quickly provision new resources, for efficient scalability. With OVHcloud as their sole cloud provider and the internal Villeroy & Boch teams maintaining full control over their new infrastructure, this solution has helped them boost automation, use hardware efficiently, benefit from flexibility with their resources, and optimise their IT management.

The result

Villeroy & Boch's new infrastructure provides a coordinated, seamless experience for customers both online and in-store. Its internet connections are more stable and quicker than ever before — so webpages load instantly for customers browsing their site, and the company’s SEO ranking is boosted as a result. This further improves the customer experience, and increases sales. OVHcloud solutions also give Villeroy & Boch the freedom to upgrade their digital environment in an efficient, cost-effective way. This means the company can continue to meet all of its customers’ needs — whether they are shopping on their mobile phone, tablet or computer.

“For us, it is vital to digitise the whole [environment], enter relevant data (products, inventories, orders, etc.) into central systems, and open new distribution channels without neglecting those that already exist.”

Pascal Rheinert, Head of IT, Internet and E-Commerce, Villeroy & Boch
